The number of couples who are spending their working, as well as family, lives together is significant. One study by FreeAgent, an accounting software provider, estimated that 1.4m couples run businesses together in the UK. In the US, the National Federation of Independent Businesses says 43 per cent of small businesses are family-run, in which 53 per cent of managers share day-to-day management with a spouse.
